Artificial Moonlight by A J Llewellyn & D.J. Manly

Artificial Moonlight by A J Llewellyn & D.J. Manly
Series: Rough Riders #1
Publisher: Silver Publishing
Genre: GLBT, Romantic Suspense, M/M
Length: 207 pages

Summary:

From the best-selling team behind Orgasmic Texas Dawn, Mirrors, Black Point, and Blood Eclipse, comes Rough Riders: Book One. Diego and Colby come from rival Louisiana motorbike gangs. In their world, being gay is a death sentence. Can they be together?

Diego Champagne, Sergeant in Arms for the Louisiana Banni motorcycle gang, has grown up tough–half French, half Creole, and all male. Diego loves men but keeps his sex life on the down low… until he meets Colby Young, that is.

Colby carries his own baggage. He has his own reasons for not believing in love–reasons he doesn’t share–and he sure as the devil doesn’t like it when he is forced to accept protection from the Banni.

When Diego intervenes in a bar brawl during a motorbike rally and saves Colby and his best friend, Spider McGraw, leader of a rival gang, Death Proof, it begins to look as if Colby and Diego are going to be joined at the hip. Somebody puts a hit out on Colby, and Spider’s up to his neck in mayhem. When the Banni offer their protection to advance their own game, Colby begins to wonder if love is like artificial moonlight, seductive yet false, or is it something to risk everything for, maybe even his life?

Evelise’s Review:

Artificial Moonlight, the product of dynamic duo D.J. Manly & A.J. Llewellyn, had a captivating start to their new series Rough Riders. A book inhabited by rough and rumble motorcycle gangs, the authors made no pretense concerning the life of biker outlaws.

Diego and Colby were from rival gangs, brought together under unusual circumstances and had the unfortunate happenstance of falling for each other.  The tale was not one of flowery words nor wine and candle light, but of the reality of gangs, fights and rivalry, when taking over another’s territory leads to someone getting hurt.

Manly and Llewellyn not only portrayed nitty gritty, down and dirty scenes but also an underlying tenderness associated with Colby and Diego. Diego was larger than life in statute and personality. I adored his gruffness. Colby, more out-going and out-spoken, his demeanor was one that spoke of self-confidence and in charge.

Artificial Moonlight held a fundamental theme of love and acceptance in a world where the status quo was hard as nails and differences were not accepted.

This is a series that should not be missed.  It’s a wonderful introduction to theri new series and I look forward to many more of the Rough Riders.

This domme demands a chance to restart their relationship—on her terms. Knowing that one night will never be enough, she plans a seduction that will last forever.

Dakota’s Review:

What to say about this short sexy read? Well, let’s see…it rocked.

Lately I’ve been finding myself being drawn to not only BDSM books, but FemDom stories in particular. And Ms. Graf didn’t disappoint. I love the past that Royce and Victoria shared. And the fact that our yummy hero was a stand up enough guy to not take advantage of our heroine during an earlier time in their relationship. My heart about melted when I read that. But even as What You Need tugged at my heart strings, the delicious sex between Royce and his mistress was enough to make this reader pant.

So if you’re looking for a sizzling read that features friends who become lovers…in a deliciously kinky way, then you’ll enjoy What You Need immensely.

Jessie’s Review:

Ms. Glenn’s book, Blood Sacrifice. was set in England as three friends were touring the country side. Little do the friends know they have been chosen for a ritual sacrifice. Just when things seem lost, their savior appears who is a demon.

Inches of Trust, Volume 1 by AR Moler

Inches of Trust, Volume 1 by AR Moler
Publisher: Torquere Press
Genre: GLBT, Erotic Contemporary Romance, M/M
Length: 152 pages

Amazon Kindle

Summary:

When architect Brian Townsend meets a man dressed as Zorro at a Halloween party it seems like a chance hookup, but Brian is attracted and it takes more effort then he originally thought just to find out the man’s name. NYPD homicide detective Tristan Blake, comes from old money, which he loathes and an idealistic streak burns within him to do a job that serves a purpose. A previous lover scorned him as a time when he was most vulnerable, after the death of friend, and Tristan is slow to trust what appears to a developing relationship between him and Brian.

Beer tasting, a broken window, a fall down a flight of stairs, a grenade and a violent attack on Brian, what do these all have in common? Each one brings Tristan an inch closer to trusting Brian with his heart.

Previously published as separate short stories.

Lasha’s Review:

AR Moler is a new author to me and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised by Inches of Trust, Volume 1. The book is a series of previously published short stories which when put together deal with the developing relationship between Brian Townsend and Tristan Blake. Now, you might be thinking that cobbling together separate shorts into a novel wouldn’t work, there would be continuity problems, but fear not, that is not the case here. I thought Inch of Trust was perfectly blended.

What I liked most about the book was its natural progression in the relationship of Tristan and Brian. They meet, they date, they have dating issues, they start to get serious, and they come out to close friends and family. Everyday relationship woes which were expertly played out in each part of the book. A very realistic look at a contemporary gay romance.

All in all, a very enjoyable read and I look forward to Volume 2.

Not So Simple Simon by Stormy Glenn

Not So Simple Simon by Stormy Glenn
Series: Aberdeen Pack, Book 4
Publisher: Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Genre: GLBT, Paranormal, Erotic Romance, M/M
Length: Word Count: 44,195

Summary:

Ares knew he had met the man he wanted to spend the rest of his life with when Simon Fiske joined the Aberdeen Pack. There’s just one problem. Everyone believes that Simon is simple and slow, not able to make decisions on his own.

When Simon and his brother Adam were banished from their pack, he had no idea that it would lead to him meeting the most beautiful man he had ever seen. After Ares claims him, life for Simon just gets more complicated. Adam refuses to talk to him, his ex-lover is back demanding that he return to his former pack, and Simon has his hands full keeping other pack members safe when they are attacked.

Being mated should have been the most wonderful thing that ever happened to Simon and Ares but it seemed to just bring on more battles than they could fight.

NOT SO SIMPLE SIMON

Evelise’s Review:

Not So Simple Simon by Stormy Glenn, the fourth book in the series Aberdeen Pack, was a delightful and light-hearted read that dove into issues of life and love. Ares has met his mate, Simon, a fun-loving man with a starry-eyed view of the world.

Simon fell for Ares, the lead enforcer for Alpha Iben’s pack, at first sight. Ares, as well, wanted to mate the young man but circumstances prevented their mating. A life threatening incidence occurred and Ares is forced to commence his mating with Simon in order to save his life. No hardship there, considering the two men have fallen for each other.

Not So Simple Simon moved very quickly. The tale did not dwell on an aversion to mating, but more on the issue of Simon’s feelings of inadequacy. Ms. Glenn’s portrayal of Simon was well done in terms of a man who would rather settle a dispute with tea and cookies, than a bar room brawl. This quality made his simple, yet complex view of society endearing. Simon may have been simple in viewing the black/white issues of the world, but he was truly a multifaceted individual.

Ares was a strong, typical alpha-type male who sought to protect his pack and his mate. I was glad Ms. Glenn wrote his story, as I adored him and his brothers.

My only drawback to the story was the lack of explanation concerning Simon’s ability to shift and his gift of healing. Will they be explained further in subsequent books? The reviewer hopes so, but I read no indication that this would occur, as two major facets of Simon’s life were more glossed over, than delved into.

An enjoyable read.

Weight of a Gun II by Scarlet Blackwell

Weight of a Gun II by Scarlet Blackwell
Publisher: Storm Moon Press
Genre: GLBT, Erotic Romance, M/M
Length: 36,000 words

Summary:

Everyone knows that guns are dangerous; they have long been a subject surrounded by controversy. Combine them with sex and you have a subject that is virtually taboo, but smoking hot. Our second gun kink anthology continues to push the envelope of combining sex and guns with three more stories hot enough to cause powder burns.

Continuing in the world of The Machinist, Avery Belfour and his captor/lover Lord Harrow now face the threat of The Inquisitor. But Harrow is very possessive of his prize and has no intention of turning Avery over without a fight. Then, a routine black market bust goes wrong for Officer Caleb Baker. He ends up Playing With the Big Boys when the thieves get the drop on him and decide to have some fun with their new catch.

And finally, Cole Beauchamp is the greatest pistoleer of all time; he’s also thoroughly unpleasant and has a habit of scaring away his assistants. But when he is sought out by a devotee with a love of guns that matches his own, Cole finds a new respect for Benjamin Pepperwhistle and the Fantabulous Circus of Wonders.

Jessie’s Review:

The book, Weight Of A Gun 2 ( A Moon Press Anthology), had three very interesting stories contained within. Ms. Blackwell’s story, Playing With The Big Boys, was a modern story of cops and the hard life they can lead.

A sexy tale of a cop named Caleb who needs to learn to let go every once in a while. His partner Dennis comes up with a plan to help out his buddy, and with the help of Leon and Riley, they might just show Caleb the joys of letting go.

My only issue was the way the gun was used in the story. The sex was hot, but the use of a gun during it was just not a good thing. it showed a dangerous practice. Weight Of A Gun 2 ( A Moon Press Anthology) was a good read, but be warned they use the gun during sex.

Whatever He Desires by Stormy Glenn

Whatever He Desires by Stormy Glenn
Series: Tribal Bonds, Book #4
Publisher: Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Genre: GLBT, Paranormal, Erotic Romance, M/M
Length: Word Count: 42,239

Summary:

Drew Hamilton didn’t know why his lover suddenly left him. He just knew that he left. And Drew’s heart had been slowly dying ever since. When he attends a party with his roommate, he never expects to find his ex-lover, or discover the world Garret had been hiding from him from the moment they met.

Garret LaGaffe never wanted to leave Drew but he felt he had no other choice when he was ordered home by his Electus. Drew is human and bringing him back to a vampire tribe could endanger Drew more than Garret was willing to allow. Giving Drew up was a better choice…or so Garret believed until Drew showed up at a party hosted by his tribe.

Misunderstandings and hard decisions add to an already dangerous situation as Garret tries to find a way to have Drew in his life without putting the man in danger. When all of his effort results in the very thing he was working so hard to avoid, can Garret put aside his fear long enough to rescue his anamchara or will he lose Drew to his fears?

Evelise’s Review:

Whatever He Desires by Stormy Glenn told the tale of Garret, vampire, and Drew, human, and their journey as friends, lovers, and mates. I found the story heart-felt and touching as Garret’s sole purpose in life was to protect his family and his mate. Unfortunately, in protecting them, he hurt the one person that mattered most, his mate.

What I most liked about the book was the pace of acceptance and not the standard; mates meet and jump into the sack, that we so often readMs. Glenn took the slower approach with Garret and Drew, which made for a story of depth and not solely of lust or sex.

As a fan of the Tribal Bonds series, I have enjoyed each book and look forward to more stories.

Or will the mystery of Refuge Inc. cause diverse expectations and lead them to decisions that further threaten their lives?

WARNING: Contains explicit male-male sexual practices, graphic language, some violence and brief descriptions of the dead.

Jessie’s Review:

Ms. Sanders book, Before The Darkness (Refuge Inc. 1), was set near Phoenix Arizona. This story takes place after the devastation of the planet by a meteor.

Elliot Stewart worked at a grocery store, but after the fall of the civilization he was alone, scared and looking for another soul to help him survive.

Adam Weber was alive and searching for someone else.   He hides his former life from Elliot, but has to come clean when things start to go wrong for them.

As Elliot and Adam make their way toward a safe haven looking for others along the way, they over come the devastation that surrounds them and discover a burning need to be together. This is a story of survival and hope. Of how two people come to rely on each other to make it though to the next day. The story was bleak but not without hope and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Here Kitty Kitty by Stormy Glenn

Here Kitty Kitty by Stormy Glenn
Publisher: Siren-BookStrand Publishing
Genre: GLBT, Paranormal, M/M
Length: Word Count: 39,287

Summary:

Dr. Ambrose White is somewhat absentminded. He has his head in the clouds researching his latest formula. He forgets meetings with his boss, the names of his interns, and basically anything that isn’t really important to him. The one thing Ambrose never forgets is his beloved cat, Kitty.

Ambrose has no idea that the formula he is asked to look over by researchers from another lab will bring danger to the one thing that means the most to him. When a lab accident turns Kitty into a human, Ambrose has to decide if he can do the right thing and develop a formula to turn him back into a cat or if falling in love with the man Kitty has become is more important than his research.

Evelise’s Review:

Here Kitty Kitty was an interesting and unusual read. The premise of Stormy Glenn’s newest creation was absent-minded scientist accidentally turned his beloved house cat into a human. Ambrose, genius scientist fell for Kitty, his now human feline.

I have to admit this was not one of my favorite Stormy Glenn books. I couldn’t get past the fact that the now human was previously a cat, who still spoke and talked like a feline. Maybe I read too much into certain parts. When Kitty spoke of pooping in Ambrose’s shoes (as a human) I was slightly disturbed. (Defecating on the floor or someone’s things is a sign of mental illness).

I did like Ambrose’s character. He was a lovable man, who definitely needed a keeper. He was a sweet, gentle soul that loved his brother and recognized the care his brother gave him. I laughed aloud at some of his antics and smiled as he made his way through his day.

An enjoyable read.
